Arun Valley trek

Arun Valley Trek is medium 10-day camping trip located in the eastern Nepal, in the Makalu Barun National Park. It covers an area of 1500 Sq Km with an altitude variation of 435 m to 8463 m above the sea, situated between Sankhuwasava and Solukhumbu district. The valley is famous for snow capped Mountain View includes the fifth world highest peak, Mt Makalu (8463 m). The journey starts after Kathmandu-Tumlingtar (460 m) flight and ends at Lukla (2860 m).

Arun ValleyTrek is the interesting walking trip for nature lovers. The valley is said the deepest valley (8391 m deep) in the world. Makalu Barun National Park has recorded 440 species of birds, including 14 extinct species and 2 endemic species known as spiny babbler and olive ground babblers. There are 150 species of butterflies, 4 species of fishes, 3000 flowering plants, including 32 types of rhododendron flowers and 47 species of orchids. Several species of mammal are recorded, including endanger types snow leopard, musk deer and red panda. Some river, rivulets as well as 12 different villages situated inside the park.

Arun Valley Trek is popular wit a tranquil and non-touristic area. The ethnic groups such as the Sherpa, Rai, Limbu, Brahmin and Chhetri live by agriculture. Day 01: Kathmandu to Kartike (310 m) via Tumlingtar (460 m) flight - 2-3 hours

Day 02: Kartike to Gothey Bazaar (775 m) - 5-6 hours

Day 03: Gothey to Salpa Phedi (1680 m) - 5-6 hours

Day 04: Salpa Phedi to Sanam (2850 m) via Salpa Pass (3350 m) - 7-8 hours

Day 05: Sanam to Bung (1900 m) - 6-7 hours

Day 06: Bung to Najingdingma (2650 m) 5-6 hours

Day 07: Najingdingma to Pangum (2850 m) - 6-7 hours

Day 08: Pangum to Puiyan (2800 m) – 5-6 hours

Day 09: Puiyan to Lukla (2860 m) - 3-4 hours

Day 10: Lukla to Kathmandu (1350 m) – 30 minutes flight
