Dashain (Durga Puja)

Dashin Dashain (Durga Puja) is the biggest festival of Hindus in Nepal celebrates the triumph of good over evil. It is at least 10 days festival and calling its, means victory days of goddess Durga over Mahisasur (demon) and Hindu Rama over Ravana (demon). Nepal has two Dashains, which is Chaitra Dashain known as small Dashain falls in March, and Ashwin Dashain known as Big Dashain falls in September-October. Just before the festival, countrywide Hindus prepare scrub their house with painting red and white soil. They wash clothes, make swings and Ferris wheels, buy male animals for sacrifice on the special eight and nice days. Government gives the holiday and the family members return to their home for reunions and feasts after buying bitten rice, well dress etc. This is the perfect weather in Nepal such as post monsoon, greenery, spectacular snowcapped mountains and nearly harvesting time with moon light at night.

Dashain (Durga Puja) starts from Nauratha are a first day of the festival and each house keep plant new seed (to make Jamara) of barley, maize and paddy after worship and it will use in the tenth day for flower (Jamara). First 3 days worship to Mahakali for power needed to live for people. Next 3 days worship to Mahalaxhmi (two type of ambulance owl and Garuda) to earn wealth always try only labor hard not to be make a corruption money. Next 3 days people worship Mahalaxhmi for knowledge and it is important after power and money.

The 8 days and 9 days of Dashain (Durga Puja) will sacrifice numerous male animals (female save for creation) to the blood drinking deities and these animals get new life. This is the message how people are hungry for meat. The tenth days is the special day for blessing from elders to younger’s by putting Tika (holy rice, yogurt, red colors and banana mixed) and Jamara (sprouts grains) to their forehead. All neighbor and relatives comes to join in this festival and share happiness and greetings with feasts including meat, bitten rice and banana.
