Everest Trekking

Everest trekking is tremendous walking journey to reach world highest mountain base camps, through Dudh Kosi Valley and Highlander settlement with dramatic mountain scenery. Sagarmatha National Park (UNESCO heritage site) is gateway of Namche Bazaar, Mt Everest, Khumbu Glaciers, Chola Pass, Island Peak and Gokyo Valley.  Follow yak and Yeti trails with Bajrayana Buddhism. Everest trekking is strenuous and adventure. Mt. Everest (8848 m) is most popular word named by Sir George Everest in 1865.  Historian man Baburam Acharya named in Nepali, Sagarmatha in 1956. Chomolongma is Tibetan name, translates “the forehead of sky” and “Goddess of Wind”. Sir Edmund Hillary (New Zealand) and Tenzing Norgay Sherpa (Nepal) climbed it first in May 29, 1953. Afterward it becomes popular in international media. Treks start at Lukla after Kathmandu-Lukla flight (30 minutes) or at Jiri after Kathmandu-Jiri bus journey (8 hours). Holiday will be 1 week or 3 weeks.

Everest hiking is popular with Hillary and Tenjing’s step, heritage site and Sherpa village. Friendly Sherpa community lives at higher, Rai, Thamis and Jirel people live at lower part. They celebrate mountain festivals such as Dumje, Mani Rimdu, and Losar. Flora and fauna are interesting. Pine and hemlock forest is at lower altitude. Fierce, juniper, birch and rhododendron are at mid-elevation. Scrub and alpine plants are at higher altitude with bare rock and snow available above tree line. Goral, red panda, snow leopard, Himalayan Tahr, musk deer, Himalayan black bear, jackals and langur are recorded. National park preserve 118 species of birds, including impeyan pheasant (Danfe) and snow cock. Summer climate will be cool and wet. Winter will get snowfall with cold and dry. Himalayan Trust founded by Sir Edmund Hillary, involving in plantation, health care and educational support in Khumbu Region.

Everest trekking is extremely popular for snow-capped mountain views include Lhotse (8516 m), Nuptse (7879 m), Cho Oyu (8201 m), Pumori (7145 m), Ama Dablam (6856 m), Thamserku (6608 m), Kusum Khanguru (6367 m) and Mera peak (6654 m). Hiking to Lamjhura Pass, Lukla airport (2860 m), Namche Bazaar, Sangbouche Airport (3720 m), Khumjung Monastery (with Yeti skull), Tangbouche, Chhukung Ri, Gorekhshep, Everest Base Camp (5364 m), Kalapathar (5545 m) and Cho La pass (5420 m) is possible.
