Everest Trekking

Everest trekking offers tremendous walking journey to a base camp of the world highest mountains, through the meandering trail of the rugged Dudh Kosi Valley and an alpine settlement of Sherpa with a magnificent view of the Himalaya peaks with glacier. After an entrance of the Sagarmatha National Park of UNESCO heritage site offers you to the Khumbu Glaciers, Chola Pass, Island Peak and Gokyo Valley with the trail of yak and mythical Yeti. The friendly Highlander people and a practice of Bajrayana Buddhism are interesting. Everest trekking is a strenuous type of journey that is challenging for a new trekker. The highest mountain of the world, named the Mt. Everest (8848 m) by Sir George Everest in 1865.  It translated Sagarmatha in Nepali language by a historian man Baburam Acharya in 1956. Everest is Chomolongma in Tibetan language, which literally means “the forehead of the sky” and “Goddess of the Wind”. The tower of the world climbed at first by Sir Edmund Hillary of New Zealand and Tenzing Norgay Sherpa of Nepal, in May 29 1953 and then Khumbu was popular in international media. The trek starts at Lukla after 30 minutes’ Kathmandu-Lukla flight or at Jiri after eight hours’ Kathmandu-Jiri bus journeys. It takes minimum 2 weeks to 3 weeks time.

Everest region is popular due to the Hillary and Tenjings’ step, UNESCO heritage site, Sagarmatha National Park (1148 sq km in the northeastern part of Nepal) and The Highlander settlement. The ethnic groups Sherpa live at higher part, Rai, Thamis and Jirel live at lower part; along the route. They celebrate mountain festivals such as the Dumje, Mani Rimdu, and Losar. A vegetation of the National Park varies from pine and hemlock forest at lower altitude, fie, juniper, birch and rhododendron at mid-elevations. Scrub and alpine plant communities’ higher up, and bare rock and snow above tree line. Rhododendron blooms during the spring, however the flora will be colorful during the monsoon season.

The wild animals, including goral, red panda, marten, snow leopard, Himalayan thar, serow, musk deer, Himalayan black bear, weasels, jackals, langur and Himalayan mouse hare (pikka) is recorded. The park has 118 species of birds, including the Impeyan pheasant and snow cock. The summer climate is cool and wet, and winter is cold and dry with heavy snowfall. The Himalayan Trust founded by Sir Edmund Hillary, involving in plantation, health care and educational support to the region.

Everest trekking is popular to explore the world highest peaks include Lhotse (8516 m), Nuptse (7879 m), Cho Oyu (8201 m), Pumori (7145 m), Ama Dablam (6856 m), Thamserku (6608 m), Kusum Khanguru (6367 m) and Mera peak (6654 m).
