Ganesh Himal base camp trek

Ganesh Himal base camp trek is a popular trip through the lower hill to the mountain, high pass, and river valley with the highest peak Mt. Manaslu (8163 m) in a journey. The village settlement is dispersed, cluster and beehive block in the Region. The trip starts at the Sole Bazaar after 5-hour bus journey from Kathmandu and ends at Khahare Bazaar. It is a 22 days hard camping trek with sightseeing. The ethnic groups and their culture, lifestyle, education, and profession are interesting. The hill people believe in the shaman.

Ganesh Himal base camp trek is interesting to explore the ethnic group, Tamang their culture and lifestyle. The region is bordered by China (Tibet). The medicinal plant and wildlife such as snow leopard, black bear and pheasant are there. This is nontourist area with a tranquil mountain or fresh air. The Himalayan bamboo uses to knit a tumpline and basket in a village. Agriculture, animal husbandry, and mountaineering are the main professions in there.

Ganesh Himal base camp trek is interesting to cross the suspension bridge in a hidden valley. Visit the yak herd with the beautiful pastures. The village settlement with wooden roofs is here. The two holy ponds are at the base camp (4125 m). The trekker with mentally and physically fit is essential to enjoying a trip. Read further information and day itinerary below.

Day 04: Sole Bazaar to Satdobate (1250 m) – 5/6 hours

Day 05: Satdobate to Balche (1930 m) – 5/6 hours

Day 06: Balche to Gonga (2900 m) – 6/7 hours

Day 07: Gonga to Rupchet Kharka (3600 m) – 5/6 hours

Day 08: Rupchet Kharka to Mangchet Kharka (3540 m) via Singla (4200 m) – 6/7 hours

Day 09: Mangchet Kharka to Pangsang Bhanjyang (3830 m) – 6/7 hours

Day 10: Pangsang Bhanjyang to Chalise (2000 m) – 6/7 hours

Day 11: Chalise to Hindung (2420 m) – 5/6 hours

Day 12: Hindung to Rajgang Kharka (2700 m) – 5/6 hours

Day 13: Rajgang Kharka to Ganesh Himal base camp (4125 m) – 5/6 hours

Day 18: Khahare Bazaar to Kathmandu (1350 m) – 8 hours by local bus

Day 19: Departure to Tribhuban International Airport

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu Airport
When the flight arrives at Tribhuvan International Airport, take the 6 km car ride with our guide, takes 25 minutes to reach the hotel. Check in hotel and guide will brief the programs. Stay overnight at hotel with breakfast in Kathmandu.

Day 02: Full day sight seeing in Kathmandu Valley
Professional Tour Guide comes at 9 AM with a car to the hotel door. Ride the car, guide explains about Nepal. The four UNESCO world heritage sites include Swayambhunath (1st century) is popular for the Buddhist Stupa, activity of the Assamese monkey and the panoramic view of Kathmandu Valley and the Himalaya. Kathmandu Durbar Square (12th to 18th century) is popular for royal palace squares, museum, Kasthamandap, the Living Goddess Kumari, Freak Street, wood carving and temple architecture. Pashupatinath (5th century) is famous for the cremation ghat, Pashupatinath Temple, the shrines with Shiva Lingam and Yoni, the Hindu holy men (Sadhus) and an activity of the Assamese monkey and deer in the sub-tropical forest. Boudhanath (5th century) is famous for the second largest Stupa in the world, Tibetan refugee settlement, painting school, huge prayer wheel, prayer flag and monastery with the monk and lama.

Day 03: Kathmandu to Sole Bazaar (650 m) – 6/7 hours
The bus passes through the Trisuli Bazaar (540 m) to Sole Bazaar. During the drive views of the forest, stream, village and mountain are interesting. After the bus, hike little to the camp site with the views of Ganesh Himal and terraced field. Stay overnight at a camp in Sole Bazaar.

Day 04: Sole Bazaar to Satdobate (1250 m) – 5/6 hours
Hiking continues and cross a bridge over the Salankhu Khola. Climb uphill to reach the Chapodanda (870 m) with terraced fields. Walk uphill through a village to reach the Stupa. Take the left trail; climb uphill to reach the Satdobate (junction of seven trails). Stay overnight at camp in Satdobate.

Day 05: Satdobate to Balche (1930 m) – 5/6 hours
Hike to the west trail passing through the village and stream. Enjoy the village life and bamboo knitting work. Walk to the watermill then, climb uphill to reach the Balche as a hill town with prayer flags. Enjoy sunset views here. Stay overnight at camp in Balche.

Day 06: Balche to Gonga (2900 m) – 6/7 hours
Climb uphill through the terraced fields, forest of rhododendron and khasru. Enjoy the pastureland with grazing domestic cattle. Walk continues to the Gonga. It is a small village with typical houses. Stay overnight at a camp in Gonga.

Day 07: Gonga to Rupchet Kharka (3600 m) – 5/6 hours
Climb uphill to the northwest through the forest of fir and rhododendron to reach the Mimatashi Kharka. Hike continues uphill through a forest to reach the ridge and Rupchet Kharka. Here is a large flat place with the Himalayan views, including Langtang (7246 m) and Gosainkunda. Stay overnight at a camp in Rupchet Kharka.

Day 08: Rupchet Kharka to Mangchet Kharka (3540 m) via Singla (4200 m) – 6/7 hours
Climb uphill to reach the Singla pass with the views of Manaslu (8163 m), Langtang and Ganesh Himal (7406 m). Walk uphill and downhill through a forest of rhododendron and pine to reach Mangchet Kharka. Kharka is the cattle settlement with pasture. Enjoy the pheasant here. Stay overnight at camp in Mangchet Kharka.

Day 09: Mangchet Kharka to Pangsang Bhanjyang (3830 m) – 6/7 hours
Hike through a forest with uphill and downhill trail. Enjoy the views of Ganesh Himal, Manaslu and Annapurna. Walk continues to the Pangsang Bhanjyang with the views of Langtang, Paldor Peak and Chinese mountain. Stay overnight at a camp in Pangsang Bhanjyang.

Day 10: Pangsang Bhanjyang to Chalise (2000 m) – 6/7 hours
Climb downhill and uphill through a forest of bamboo, pine and rhododendron with a waterfall to reach the Tipling. It is a large Tamang village with chorten, church and terraced fields. Tamang people produce potato, barley, buck wheat, corn and vegetable. Climb downhill and cross a bridge over the Gorkhen Khola. Hike uphill to the Chalise. It is the Gurung village. Stay overnight at a camp in Chalise.

Day 11: Chalise to Hindung (2420 m) – 5/6 hours
Climb downhill and cross a bridge over the Menchet Khola. Hike uphill to reach the Hinddung. It is a large Tamang village, terraced fields with Mani wall and prayer flag. People knit basket and tumpline by bamboo. This is the last village before the Ganesh Himal base camp. Stay overnight at a camp in Hindung.

Day 12: Hindung to Rajgang Kharka (2700 m) – 5/6 hours
Walk uphill through a forest of rhododendron and medicinal plant with wildlife. Walk continues to the Rajgang Kharka. It is a pasture of domestic cattle. Enjoy the quiet pastureland. Stay overnight at a camp in Rajgang Kharka.

Day 13: Rajgang Kharka to Ganesh Himal base camp (4125 m) – 5/6 hours
Walk through a narrow valley with forest and desert like route with uphill and flat to reach the Ganesh Himal base camp. The views of Ganesh Himal (7406 m), Paldor Peak and other mountain are here. The holy black and white ponds are here. Stay overnight at a camp in Ganesh Himal base camp.

Day 14: Ganesh Himal Base Camp to Chalise (2000 m) – 7/8 hours
Hike downhill through the stream, Tamang village and forest to reach Chalise. Stay overnight at a camp in Chalise.

Day 15: Chalise to Jharlang (1700 m) – 7/8 hours
Climb gradually to reach a ridge with the views of Ganesh Himal, village, waterfall and terraced fields. Descend, passing through the terraced fields, village to reach the Borang. Walk downhill and uphill to reach the Jharlang. It is the Tamang village. Stay overnight at a camp in Jharlang.

Day 16: Jharlang to Darkha (1250 m) – 6/7 hours
Walk through the landslide, climb uphill with the views of Ganesh Himal and Manaslu. Walk continues through a forest with waterfall, terraced fields and village to reach Darkha. Enjoy the Netrawati River Valley. Here are Brahmin people. Stay overnight at a camp in Darkha.

Day 17: Darkha to Khahare Bazaar (685 m) – 6/7 hours
Climb downhill to the Phedi. Walk through the bank of the Aankhu Khola with the views of the waterfall, village, stream and forest to reach the Khahare Bazaar. The Bazaar is located bank of the river with the shop, school, college and surrounding mountains. Stay overnight at a camp in Khahare.

Day 18: Khahare Bazaar to Kathmandu (1350 m) – 8 hours by local bus
Take early breakfast and ride the local bus to Kathmandu. During the journey, the views of the village, forest and Mountain with the highway town are interesting. Stay overnight at a hotel in Kathmandu.

Day 19: Departure to Tribhuban International Airport
Airport is 6 km far, which takes 25 minutes car drive. Get airport 3 hours before your flight. Hope you enjoyed trekking trip in Nepal and welcome back again with a new program. We wish you safe and happy flight.
