Ghale Gaun Village Tour

Ghale Gaun Village Tour is worth to visit a Gurung village located in the Lamjung district at 2100 m in central Nepal. The rural lifestyle of Gurung people, their dress, language, food habit, culture, and festival are notable. First time in 2001, 28 traditionally built houses run as a home stay with 100-people capacity. A traveler can approach the Gurung village via Besishahar and Khudi village after 7 hour's bus journey from Kathmandu.

Ghale Gaun Village Tour offers the spectacular views of the snow-capped mountain, including Fishtail (6993 m), Annapurna I (8091 m), Annapurna II (7939 m), Annapurna IV (7525 m), Lamjung Himal (6932 m), Boudha Himal (6974 m), and Himalchuli (6747 m). The Talangyo Lake for a bird watching, Uttar Kanya Temple, Batase cave, Khudi hydroelectric dam and Pempro fall are fascinating to visit. Gurung people perform traditional dances including Rodhi, Ghatu, Jhyaure, Ghyabring, Serka, Jhankri, and Krishna Charitra with a typical dress and music during various fairs and festivals. Honey hunting at cliffs by locals is a skill to harvest wild honey by 200-meter bamboo ladder with hemp ropes. They have a tea farm there. You can taste organic foods and millet wine in the village. Chicken curry with Nepalese porridge is another lovely food that makes by millet flour and boiling water.

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu Airport (1337 m)

Day 02: Full day sightseeing in Kathmandu – 6 hours

Day 03: Kathmandu to Khudi (790 m) via Besishahar (820 m) – 7/8 hours by bus

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu Airport (1337 m)
When the flight arrives at Tribhuvan International Airport, take a 6 km drive with our guide, takes 25 minutes to reach the hotel. Check in hotel and guide will brief the program. Stay overnight at the hotel with breakfast in Kathmandu.

Day 02: Full day sightseeing in Kathmandu – 6 hours
Tour guide comes at 9 AM with a car at your hotel door. Take a car, guide briefs information about Nepal. The four world heritage sites include Swayambhunath is popular for the Buddhist Stupa, an activity of Assamese monkey and panoramic view of Kathmandu Valley. Kathmandu Durbar Square is popular for an old palace squares, museum, Kasthamandap, the Living Goddes house, Freak Street, and other numerous temple. Pashupatinath is famous to see cremation in a bank of theRiver Bagmati, Pashupatinath Temple and other Shiva shrines, Hindu holy men (Sadhus) and an activity of Assamese monkeys and deer in the sub-tropical forest. Boudhanath is popular for second largest stupa in the world, Tibetan refugee settlement, painting school, huge prayer wheels, prayer flags and monasteries with monks and lamas. Day 03: Kathmandu to Khudi (790 m) via Besishahar (820 m) – 7/8 hours by bus
Drive to Kathmandu-Pokhara highway until Dumre is 135 km then, take a separate road to Besisahar is 43 km. Besishahar is the district headquarters of Lamjung district. Here are 15 hotels with electricity. Marsyangdi River is to the south and snow capped mountains are to the north. 16th century Shah, King Yosho Brahma’s palace is in 2 hours uphill distance to the ridge. Besisahar to Khudi takes 25 minutes by bus. Stay overnight at lodge in Khudi.

Day 04: Khudi to Ghale Gaun – 4/5 hours
Take a hot breakfast at the lodge. Make backpack ready, then, hiking to Ghale Gaun in 5 hours with the view of mountains, river, villages, and forest. When you arrive at the village, the host will welcome to their homes with a welcome drink. Stay overnight at homestay lodge with the full board of meal in Ghale Gaun Village.

Day 05: Tour in Ghale Gaun
Take hot breakfast, then, explore the village. The Gurung village with typical tradition and agriculture base culture with own language, dress and custom are here. The views of surrounding snow-capped mountains include Annapurna and Lamjung are beautiful. After dinner, enjoy the cultural show with a typical dress by the village community. Stay overnight at homestay lodge with the full board of meal in Ghale Gaun Village.

Day 06: Ghalegaon to Khudi – 3/4 hours
Take hot breakfast in the morning, then, climb downhill to Khudi in 4 hours. Enjoy the views of the Marshyangdi River Valley, mountains, terraced field and village during the hiking. Stay overnight at homestay lodge with the full board of meal in the Khudi Village.

Day 07: Khudi to Kathmandu
Take hot breakfast, then, ride the 8 hours local bus journey with the 186 km paved road. The highway town, village, Marshyangdi and Trishuli River valley, rice terrace, mountains are interesting. Stay overnight at the hotel with breakfast in Kathmandu.

Day 08: Departure to Tribhuvan International Airport
