Gokyo Lake trekking

Gokyo Lake trekking is an 11-day trip, called the Gokyo Valley trek an awesome trip along the Sasquatch and unblemished lake trail. The four worlds’ highest mountains, including Cho Oyu (8201m), Mt Everest (8848 m), Lhotse (8516 m) and Mt Makalu (8463 m) are fascinating.  The stunning Ngosumpa Glacier, Gyachung Kang (7922 m), Cholatse and Tabuche are interesting. A journey begins at Lukla (2860 m) with a 30-minute Kathmandu-Lukla flight. Sherpa town, Namche Bazaar is the gateway to the destination. After two hours walking from Namche Bazaar, take left at Sangnasa to visit the Gokyo Valley.

Gokyo Lake trekking is an opportunity to explore the Gokyo Lakes, including lower lake (4650 m) and upper lake (4690 m) called Longponga with Brahminy ducks. Gokyo Village (4750 m) located nearby the two lakes. There are uphill and downhill trails with close up views of the snow capped mountains. Sherpa villages are along the trekking route. The profession of the locals is mountaineering, animal husbandry, and tea shop business. You can meet yak, nak, musk deer, and Himalayan Tahr along the trail. Extraordinary Tibetan culture, Chorten, prayer flags, prayer wheel is outstanding. Sagarmatha National Park is the home of flora and fauna, including Impeyan pheasant. The Dole Valley is known as the place of yeti.

Day 01: Kathmandu to Phakding (2652 m) through Lukla airplane terminal (2860 m) – 4/5 hours

Day 02: Phakding to Namche Bazaar (3441 m) – 5/6 hours

Day 03: Rest Day in Namche Bazaar

Day 04: Namche Bazaar to Dole (4060 m) – 5/6 hours

Day 05: Dole to Machhermo (4420 m) – 4/5 hours

Day 06: Trek to Gokyo from Machhermo (4750 meters) – 4/5 hours

Day 07: Rest day in Gokyo

Day 08: Gokyo to Phortse (3700 meters) – 6 to 7 hours

Day 09: Trek from Phortse to Jorsalle (2850 m) – 6 to 7 hours

Day 10: Jorsalle to Lukla (2860 meters) – 5 to 6 hours

Day 11: Lukla to Kathmandu (1350 m) – 30 minutes by flight

Day 01: Kathmandu to Phakding (2652 m) through Lukla airplane terminal (2860 m) – 4/5 hours
Take a 25 minutes taxi drive with manual for the airplane terminal one hour before your Kathmandu-Lukla flight. Fly 30-minutes to perspective of Bhaktapur, farmland, snowcapped mountains, timberland, valley, stream until Lukla. It has a short runway known as Tenzing-Hillary air terminal. Little Sherpa town has hotels, teashops and school. Plummet through a woods to Cheplung; cross a couple spans proceed with a perspective of the Dudh Kosi River and Mt. Kusum Kangaru to get Ghat. Walk 20 minutes to achieve Phakding with a few hotels and teashops.

Day 02: Phakding to Namche Bazaar (3441 m) – 5/6 hours
Walk couple of then traverse the Dudh Kosi River. Climb bit by bit up to Thak Thok town and proceeds to Banker with a perspective of Mt Kusum Kangaru, waterfall, waterway valley and pine backwoods. Cross a scaffold and making a beeline for the National Park. Check your grants and slide couple of then cross an extension and armed force checkpoint is there. Climb proceeds with cross a scaffold stroll along River Dudh Kosi. Again cross Hillary Bridge and steeply moves through a pine woods to impression first time on Mt Everest (8848 m). Keep proceeds through a timberland to come to the Namche Bazaar. There are a few cabins, Police Check Post, Army Camp, Museum, Monasteries and teashops

Day 03: Rest Day in Namche Bazaar
Take a short climb to Khunde and Khumjung town. Visit Gompa to see Yeti's head then move up to the Everest see lodging to see Mt Everest and Valley then move down to Namche to see the Museum. Remain overnight in Namche.

Day 04: Namche Bazaar to Dole (4060 m) – 5/6 hours
Climb few up and takes after a major trail upper east of Namche town. Proceed with stroll to Sangnasa (3590 m) then move to left to Mong La (3950 m). Here is Gompa and all encompassing perspective of Amadablam and different pinnacles. Slip steeply to Phortse Tenga (3600 m). Here are check post and perspective of Cho Oyu (8201 m). Move up through a woods of birch and rhododendron timberland. Deer and Himalayan Tahr can see here. Keep proceed through summer settlements, Tongaba (3950 m) and Gyale (3960 m). See Mount Tawachhe (6542 m) and Khumbila (5761 m) here. Climb Continue to achieve Dole

Day 05: Dole to Machhermo (4420 m) – 4/5 hours
Move up to a settlement of Lhabarma (4220 m) and Luza (4360 m) is arranged bank of the substantial stream with juniper plant. Climb proceeds with tough through a valley to achieve Machhermo with a Mountain View and a few cabins. This place is said of Yeti (terrible snowman). Once a legendary creature slaughtered three yaks and assaulted by a Sherpa lady (yak-herder) in 1974. Remain overnight at the cabin.

Day 06: Trek to Gokyo from Machhermo (4750 meters) – 4/5 hours
Ascend to an edge to see a perspective of Cho Oyu (8201 m) and Kantega (6779 m). Keep on panga (4390 m). Plunge to a riverbank and steeply move to first Gokyo Lake (4650 m) with Brahminy ducks. Walk proceeds to next Lake (4690 m) lies close-by Gokyo Village. Remain overnight here.

Day 07: Rest day in Gokyo
Climb up to the Gokyo from early of the morning RI (5350 m) takes 2 hours. You can see several mountain peaks with four world highest mountains, including Mt Everest, Cho Oyu, Makalu and Lhotse. Glaciers can be seen with more lake beside yesterday we passed. Sunrise and Sun set view are superb over the mountain peaks. It is a windy place which takes enough water to drink and warm clothes.

Day 08: Gokyo to Phortse (3700 meters) – 6 to 7 hours
Return to the same trail to Panga (4390 m) afterwards turn to the east and climb to a settlement of Na (4400 m) with few tea shops. Continue to Kansas and Thare (4340 m) village. After few times arrive at the Thore and Konar (4090 m). Walk one hour through rhododendron, birch, and juniper forest to Phortse village. It is a large Sherpa village with a view of Thamserku, Tangbouche Monastery, and River valley. Stay overnight here.

Day 09: Trek from Phortse to Jorsalle (2850 m) – 6 to 7 hours
Plummet through a woodland to cross an extension adjacent Phortse Tenga (3600 meters) where you meet the trail before you gone to Dole. Ascend steeply to Mong La slope with a decent perspective of a mountain valley. Move down to Sangnasa and keep on namche Bazaar. Move down to Jorsalle (2850 m) in a couple of hours.

Day 10: Jorsalle to Lukla (2860 meters) – 5 to 6 hours
Walk proceeds to National Park post. Look at licenses and move down to Monjo, Banker and Phakding. Keep proceed through Ghat, Cheplung to achieve Lukla. Reconfirm your following day flight ticket to fly Kathmandu. Remain overnight at a cabin in Lukla.

Day 11: Lukla to Kathmandu (1350 m) – 30 minutes by flight
Go on time to the air terminal after breakfast. Fly back to Kathmandu with the perspective of mountains, towns and waterway valley.
