Jiri to Everest base camp trek

Jiri to Everest base camp trek is a twenty-one-day strenuous trip towards the highest mountain in the world that starts after 8-hour bus tour (Kathmandu-Jiri). The trip passes along a beautiful river valley, picturesque village, and diverse landscapes, including the UNESCO heritage site Sagarmatha National Park. A teahouse and camping treks access to enjoy the views of Mt Makalu (8463 m), Mt. Lhotse (8516 m), Mt. Everest (8848 m) and Mt. Cho Oyu (8201 m).  Everest base camp (5364 m) and Kalapathar (5545 m) motivates annually numerous trekkers to enjoy Mt. Everest, Lhotse, Pumori, Khumbu Glacier (32 km) and Ice Pinnacles at the base camp. Sagarmatha cannot see from the base camp.

Jiri to Everest base camp trek offers to follow each step of Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay Sherpa. Pre-training, physical fitness, and positive mind will be enough to enjoy the hiking. Jiri (1905 m) is a beautiful town where your holiday begins and ends in Lukla, Tenzing-Hillary Airport. Every day trekker can take a new experience with a beautiful landscape and picturesque village, including 25 suspension bridges up to the Sagarmatha base camp. You can interact with Sherpa, Rai, and Limbu people. The mountain festivals ensure the trip even more interesting. Pangboche, Dingboche, Laboche, and Gorakshep are Sherpa villages situated above 4000 meters. You can glimpse couples of times along the track before Namche Bazaar (3441 m). September to December and March to May is the best season for travel there.  

Jiri to Everest base camp trek is interesting for the views of snow-capped mountains, Lamjura Pass, river valleys, ethical dress, food habits, Buddhist culture, Sherpa people, flora and fauna in the UNESCO heritage site, the highest airport, Syangboche (3720 m) and the Sherpa museum in Namche Bazaar. Trekking permit and TIMS card are required for the journey. Everest-Kalapathar hiking can be interesting in April and May because of expedition tents and climbing crews. The snow leopard, yak, yeti, musk deer, and the Himalayan tahr are some graceful mammals in the Everest Region. Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu Airport (1337 m)

Day 02: Kathmandu to Jiri (1905 m) – 8/9 hours by bus

Day 03: Jiri to Shivalaya (1767m) – 4/5 hours

Day 04: Shivalaya to Bhandar (2194 m) – 4/5 hours

Day 05: Bhandar to Sete (2575 m) – 6/7 hours

Day 06: Sete to Junbesi (2675 m) – 6/7 hours

Day 07: Junbesi to Nuntala (2250 m) – 6/7 hours

Day 08: Nuntala to Kharikhola (2050 m) – 5/6 hours

Day 09: Khari Khola to Poiyan (2800 m) – 5/6 hours

Day 10: Poiyan to Phakding (2652 m) – 5/6 hours

Day 22: Departure to Tribhuvan International Airport

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu Airport (1337 m)
We meet you at Tribhuvan International Airport. We drive 6 km road by a car that takes 25 minutes to the hotel. Check in hotel and we brief the programs. Stay overnight at a hotel with bed and breakfast in Kathmandu.

Day 02: Kathmandu to Jiri (1905 m) – 8/9 hours by bus
Jiri is 190 km (118 miles) east of Kathmandu. Local buses are available at Old Bus Park in Kathmandu. The bus journey will be interesting with views of a river valley, countryside and highway towns. Kathmandu to Lamosangu is 79 km, Lamosangu to Charikot is 54 km. Charikot to Jiri is 57 km. Jiri is a town with several lodges and electricity.

Day 03: Jiri to Shivalaya (1767m) – 4/5 hours
Jiri to a ridge top (2370 m) takes 1:30 hours with views of green hill and village. The ridge top to Shivalaya is 2 hours downhill. Shivalaya is interesting town situated bank of the Khimti River. Few hotels and power are there. Local fish of river can buy here.

Day 04: Shivalaya to Bhandar (2194 m) – 4/5 hours
Shivalaya to Sangbadanda (2170 m) is 1:45 hours trail with an uphill. Hike in 1:50 hours to reach Deurali (2705 m) where are two hotels. Deurali to Bhandar is downhill with 1:10 hours time. Here are a few hotels with power lines. Terraced fields are beautiful here.

Day 05: Bhandar to Sete (2575 m) – 6/7 hours
Bhandar to Kenja (1600 m) is 2:45 hours walking with views of river and village. Kenja lies on the bank of a river with few hotels. Take a lunch and climb to Sete in 3 hours. Here are few hotels and good views of the river valley.

Day 06: Sete to Junbesi (2675 m) – 6/7 hours
Sete to Dakchu (2800 m) is 1- hour uphill walk. Dakchu to Goyom (3300 m) is 1- hour uphill. Goyom to Lamjura Pass (3530 m) is 2 hours trail with beautiful mountain views. Lamjura pass to Traktor (2860 m) can reach in 1:30 hours with a downhill. Traktor to Junbesi is 1- hour walks with flat and downhill trails. Here are several hotels, monastery, and power.

Day 07: Junbesi to Nuntala (2250 m) – 6/7 hours
Junbesi to Salung (2953 m) can reach in 1:50 hours. There is a forest of blue pine, rhododendron, and oak. Mount Everest can glimpse here Salung to Ringmo (2700 m) is 1:30 hours trail with downhill and uphill. Here are few hotels for lunch. Ringmo to Trakshindo pass (3071 m) is 45-minute uphill. Trakshindo pass to Nuntala is 1:30 hours downhill through the village of late Babu Chiri with a monastery. Here are few hotels with power.

Day 08: Nuntala to Kharikhola (2050 m) – 5/6 hours
Nuntala to Dudh Kosi Bridge (1480 m) is 1:30 hours trail with downhill. Dudh Kosi Bridge to Jubing (1680 m) is 40 minutes uphill. Jubing to Kharikhola is 1:30 hour’s uphill trail. Sherpa, Rai and Magar people live in the village. Here are few hotels with power.

Day 09: Khari Khola to Poiyan (2800 m) – 5/6 hours
Khari Khola to Bupsa (2300 m) uphill takes one hour. Bupsa to Poiyan is uphill and downhill takes 3:15 hours walking. Here are few hotels in a forest.

Day 10: Poiyan to Phakding (2652 m) – 5/6 hours
Poiyan to Surkhe (2290 m) is 2 hours with downhill and uphill trails. Surkhe to Choplung (2690 m) is 1-hour uphill. Choplung to Phakding is 1:30 hours downhill and uphill. Here are several hotels with power.

Day 11: Phakding to Namche Bazaar (3441 m) – 5/6 hours
Phakding to Benkar (2700 m) is one hour uphill. Benkar to Monjo (2800 m) is 40 minutes uphill. There is suspension bridge over the Dud Kosi River. Monjo to Jorsalle (2810 m) is 35 minutes uphill. Here is Sagarmatha National Park office with few teashops. Check trek permit at the national park, walk to Namche Bazaar in 2:40 hours with an uphill. You will meet few bridges with the Everest viewpoint. Namche Bazaar has numerous hotels with a bank, internet line, teashops, electricity, army post and museum. This is a Sherpa town with mountain views. This is the gateway of Everest base camp.

Day 12: Rest day in Namche Bazaar
Visit in Khumjung village (3790 m) in 1:30 hours through the Sanghboche airport (3720 m). There is an Everest view hotel (3880 m) on a ridge at 3880 m. Enjoy views of Dudh Kosi valley, Thamserku, Ama Dablam, Taboche, and Everest. Acclimatize your body with climbing high and sleep low.

Day 13: Namche Bazaar to Tengboche (3860 m) – 5/6 hours
Namche Bazaar to Pungi Tanga (3250 m) is 2:45 hours uphill and downhill with the views of River Valley, Mt. Everest and Ama Dablam. Take a lunch and cross a bridge over the Dudh Kosi River, then hike 2 hours uphill to Tengboche. Here is huge Monastery, 5 hotels with power and the great view of Everest.

Day 14: Tengboche to Dingboche (4400 m) – 5/6 hours
Tengboche to Pangboche (3900 m) takes 1:30 hours uphill walking. Here are seven hotels. The view of Amadablam (6856 m) is great. Here is a separate trail to go Amadablam base camp that takes 3:20 hours uphill. Pangboche to Dingboche takes 2:40 hours uphill walking. Here are many hotels. It is a warm valley than Pheriche (4250 m).

Day 15: Rest day in Dingboche
Take a rest for acclimatizing your body. Climb to Narsingha Hill (5000 m) for good views of valley and mountain peaks include Mt Makalu (8163 m). Chhukung (4730 m) is 2:30 hours uphill from Dingboche. Here are two hotels. Chukung RI is a viewpoint of Island peak.

Day 16: Dingboche to Lobuche (4930 m) – 4/5 hours
Dingboche to Dugla (4620 m) can reach in 1:45 hours with an uphill trail. There is one lodge. Dugla to Lobuche is 1:35 hours uphill. Here are six lodges. The sunset view over Nuptse will be interesting on a clear day.

Day 17 : Lobuche to Everest Base Camp (5364 m) via Gorakshep (5180 m) – 6/7 hours
Lobuche to Gorakshep is 2:40 hours uphill. Here are five hotels with the views of Everest, Pumori, and Nuptse. Gorakshep to Everest base camp is 2:30 hours trail. Enjoy ice pinnacles and Khumbu glacier with mountain peaks. Mt. Everest cannot see from its base camp. Hike back to Gorakshep in 1:40 hours.

Day 18: Gorakshep to Pheriche (4250 m) – 7/8 hours
Gorakshep to Kalapathar (5545 m) is 2:15 hours uphill. Kalapathar is the great views of Mount Everest, Nuptse, Pumori, Basecamp, and Khumbu Glaciers. There is chilly cold, wear proper clothes with a warm cap and gloves. Climb back to Gorakshep in 1:15 hours. Gorakshep to Lobuche is 1:30 hours downhill. Lobuche to Pheriche is 2:35 hours downhill.

Day 19: Pheriche to Namche Bazaar (3441 m) – 7/8 hours
Pheriche to Pangboche is 1:50 hours downhill. Pangboche to Tengboche is 1:25 hours downhill. Tengboche to Pungi Tanga is 1:15 hours downhill. Pungi Tanga to Namche Bazaar is 3 hours with an uphill and downhill trail.

Day 20: Namche Bazaar to Lukla (2860m) – 7/8 hours
Namche Bazaar to Jorsalle is 1:45 hours downhill. Jorsalle to Phakding is 2:50 hours downhill. Phakding to Lukla is 2:45 hours uphill. Reconfirm your flight ticket to Kathmandu for the next morning. Here are several hotels with power.

Day 21: Lukla to Kathmandu (1350 m) – 30 minutes by flight
Wake up early and take breakfast then walk to the airport. Fly back to Kathmandu with the views of mountains, villages and river valley. Catch a taxi and go to your hotel in 25 minutes. Check in hotel and take a rest. Stay overnight with bed and breakfast.

Day 22: Departure to Tribhuvan International Airport
The airport is 6 km east. We provide a car that takes 25 minutes. You should reach airport 3 hours before the flight departure. Hope you enjoyed trekking in Nepal. Welcome back to a new program. We wish you safe and happy flight.
