Koshi Tappu jungle safari

Kosi Tappu jungle safari is an interesting trip located in the southeastern lowland of Nepal. It is about 500 km far from Kathmandu by road. Fly from Kathmandu to Biratnagar then drive the 40 km road to the wildlife reserve. It is situated at 100 m to 150 m above the sea. It spreads in the Saptari and Sunsari district in the bank of Koshi River. The reserve established in 1976 with the purpose of wild water buffalo (Arna) protection. It is a wetland enlisted the Ramsar in 1987. The reserve is the best bird watching place in Nepal.

Kosi Tappu jungle safari is the home of 479 species of birds includes 40 species of migratory bird from Siberia throughout October to March. They are; bar-headed geese; Sarus Crane, Brahminy Ducks, Pintails Duck, Common Pochard, White-eyed Pochard and Red-crested Pochard, a variety of ducks, herons, storks, ibis and an egret. There are; elephant, hog deer, wild water buffalo, wild boar, spotted deer, jackal, blue bull,  the gharial crocodile and Gangetic dolphin. Here are deciduous riverine tropical forest and grassland with the patches of scrub vegetation.

Kosi Tappu jungle safari offers the elephant riding, canoeing and bird watching. The resorts and tented camp are available for the night. Sunrise view is nice here. After the white water rafting over the Sun Koshi River, can visit the Conserve is easy. The Koshi Tappu translates an island that is famous for the wild water buffalo and blue bull. The Koshi Barrage (56 doors) lies 16 km to the south. Explore the people of a plain land, lifestyle and their agriculture farm here. The March to September day temperature remains 40° Celsius. Bird Watching

Enjoy the bird watching with a nature guide. It is a famous wetland nearby the River Koshi. Explore the residential and migratory bird (479 species) including comb duck, Swamp Francolin, lesser adjutant, falcated duck, black-necked stork, cotton pygmy goose, ruddy crake, spot-billed duck, Baer's Pochard, Pheasant-tailed Jacana, greater painted snipe, Indian Courser, white-tailed eagle, imperial eagle, yellow-wattled lapwing, lesser kestrel, striated grassbird, bristlegrass bird, Sarus Crane, herons, egrets and ibis.

Jungle Walk

Enjoy the Jungle in Koshi Tappu (island) with a nature guide in the morning and evening. The riverine tropical jungle with grassland is interesting.
