Sankhu Nagarkot hiking

Sankhu Nagarkot hiking is an interesting day trip in the capital of Nepal just 20 km northeast of the Kathmandu Valley. The trip begins at the Sankhu village at 1500m high above the sea level after the 40-minute car tour.  It takes 3 hours to approach the stunning Nagarkot village at 1920m. The place Sankhu is believed the old village (5000 years) was civilized in the age of truth according to the holy book Swasthani. Here we explore the sacred River Shalinadi and the Temple of Goddess Swasthani.

Sankhu Nagarkot hiking route passes along the terraced field on a gravel road with the views of a forest, Himalaya, green hill, village, and valley. The trail forwards gradually over an uphill. You can meet and interact with locals working in their meadows. You will climb 500 meters altitude during the hiking. On the way, you will arrive in Kattike Danda where a hiking route joins with Chisopani, just 40 minutes early to the Nagarkot. The magnificent views of the mountains are superb, including Ganesh Himal, Langtang, Dorjelakpa, Gaurishankar, and Numbur. You can enjoy the stunning mountain views with a drink at the village tea shop. You can walk continues with a cool breeze through the forest trail to the Nagarkot Village. Our car is waiting for you there. Take a 1:30 hour’s drive to the hotel in Kathmandu. If you would like easy hiking, walk from Nagarkot to Sankhu.
