Nepali people called Nepalis, Gorkhali and Nepalese to 142 ethnics and caste groups with 123 dialects divided into four major groups, Mongoloid, Caucasoid, Munda, and Dravid. They speak Indo-Aryan, Munda, Dravid, and Tibeto-Burmese. Geographically, Nepal is divided into the Himalayan Region, Hilly Region, and Terai Region, with a territory called Himali, Pahadi, and Madhesi people. Terai Region (Dhanusa, Musaharniya) ranges from 57.3 meters and the Himalayan Region up to 8848 meters. Dingboche and Dho Tarap villages are situated 4410 meters above the sea. King Prithvi Narayan Shah (1723-1775), Junga Bahadur Rana (1817-1877), Laxmi Prasad Devkota (1909-1959), King Tribhuvan (1906-1955), Bhanu Bhakta Acharya (1814-1868), Bhakti Thapa (1741-1815), Tenzing Norgay Sherpa (1914-1986) were some of the well-known people in Nepal.
Gorkhali people live in a multicultural, multi-racial, multi-linguistic and multi-ethnic country Nepal. Most ethnic and caste groups own unique lifestyles, languages, customs and rituals, dresses, food habits, jewellery, and ornaments. National food is Daal Bhat and Tarkari. The Shah dynasty ruled from 1768- 2008 AD and now practises a Federal Democratic Republic State. Local celebrations, myths, legends, music, and songs are different from one to another. Traditionally, Brahmins perform religious rites and rituals. Chhetris and Thakuris portrayed the warrior class and political administrators in the 14th century. Magars and Gurungs live in the west, and Rais, Sunuwars, and Limbus live in the east. Newars live in Kathmandu Valley. Nepalese youths work in British (3600), Indian (44000), Brunei Army (2000), and Singapore Police (2000).
Tibetan types of Nepalese people, Sherpas, Lhomis, Yolmowas, Langtange, Shyars, Neyshyangwas, Narwas, Gyasumdowas, Lopas, Mugalis, Dolpowas, and Nymbas, live in the Himalayan Region. The Sherpas have earned a reputation as highlanders in the world. Their settlement is in Solu Khumbu, the foothills of Mount Everest.
Indigenous Tharus, Darais, Musahars, Jhangads, Muslims, hill migrants, Kumal, Danuwar, Dhimal, Rajbamsis, Satar, and Majhi live in the Terai Region. Nepal is a secular, tourist-friendly country with religious harmony. Ninety per cent of people believe in Hinduism and Buddhism in Nepal. Nepali-speaking people live in India (Sikkim, Darjeeling), Bhutan, Burma, and Thailand. Approximately 6 million Nepalese work in Dubai, Qatar, Malaysia, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Oman, Bahrain, Japan, the USA, the UK, Hong Kong, Australia, Canada, and Germany.
Nepalese people are friendly, easygoing, honest, egalitarian, humorous, helpful, and brave. Most of Nepalese have similar names to the Hindu God and Goddess, Ram, Sita, Hari, Shiva, Shankar, Bishnu, Rudra, Laxmi and Saraswati. They believe in astrology, zodiac signs, fortune, and hard work. Banyan tree, Bodhi tree, Kusha grass, holy basil (Tulasi), Sandalwood, Rudraksha, and Bermuda grass (Dubo) are holy in Nepal. They respect nature, rocks, trees, caves, rivers, the Sun, Moon, and stars. The Birth, wedding, and death ceremonies are most important in the cast and ethnic groups. Guest is equivalent to god in Nepal. People celebrate the fair and festival by drinking, singing and dancing with unique dresses. About 56 per cent of people rely on agriculture, and others work in private and government jobs.
