Api Nampa Trekking is a moderate camping journey towards the far western region, the Darchula district of Nepal. The remote and isolated land is under-developed of Api Nampa Conservation Area (1903 Sq Km) that was established on 12 July 2010. India border in the west and Tibet border located in the north. The restricted trekking area requires a special permit and TIMS card before the journey. Api Nampa Conservation Area covers 5 Rural Municipalities and one Municipality of Darchula district (539 m - 7132 m). The region has an inhabited mixed community of Bhotiya, Brahmin, Byansi, Shauka, Badi, Tamang, Magar, Chhetri, Kami, Thakuri, Damai, and Sarki. Approximately 59609 populations (52% female, 48% male) live in 10412 households. Mid-October to November, March to May is the best season to travel there.
Api Nampa Trekking offers the view of Gurans Himal range, Api Himal (7132 m), Saipal Himal (7031 m), Nampa Himal (6755 m), Byas Rishi Himal (6670 m), Lipulekh Pass (5200 m), Jethi Bahurani (6849 m), Kap Chuli (6825 m), and Bobaye (6808 m). Api Nampa Conservation Area owns diverse topography and geology diversity of ecosystems, flora and fauna, seven forest types, seven scrub and grassland types. The floral diversity includes 535 species of angiosperms, 12 species of gymnosperms and 69 species of pteridophytes. The faunal diversity found 43 species of mammals, 263 species of birds, 69 species of fish and 64 species of insects. The agro-biodiversity recorded 12 varieties of rice, 11 varieties of wheat, 15 varieties of maize, seven varieties of finger millet, five varieties of barley and 11 varieties of beans documented in Khar, Naugad Rural Municipality alone.
