Dhorpatan Jumla trek

Dhorpatan Jumla trek is a 24-day strenuous camping trip from Baglung that ends Jumla in western Nepal. The trekking goes along with the exciting Dhorpatan Valley, hunting reserve, Tibetan settlement, uphill, downhill, high pass, river valley, ethnic culture, lifestyle, profession. Dhorpatan Hunting Reserve has six blocks covering 1325 sq km land established in 1983. The hunting offers the overpopulated blue sheep with other game animals. The Department of National Park and Wildlife Conservation issued the hunting license. 

Dhorpatan Jumla trek is popular with the Sheng Khola valley, Hurikot, Mauri Lagna Pass and Jumla valley. Trekkers meet alpine, sub-alpine and high temperate vegetation such as pine, fir, hemlock, oak, rhododendron, birch, spruce and juniper. The wildlife is a snow leopard, goral, tahr, serow, Himalayan black bear, wild boar, barking deer, mouse hare langur monkey, red panda, 137 types birds include Cheer Pheasant, Danphe, and an approximate 900 blue sheep. The ethnic groups such as Kham Magar, Gurung, Thakali, Chhetri, Kami, Damai and Bahun live along the trekking route. 

Dhorpatan Jumla trek offers the Himalaya views, Dhaulagiri (8167 m), Jaljala Himal, Annapurna, and Gurga Himal. Tibetan people migrated there in 1959. The Kham Magar practices animistic, shamanistic and the Tibetan types Nepali follows the Bon religion. Annual in August, the Janai Purnima festival celebrates at Uttar Ganga Riverbank. Day 24: Departure to Tribhuvan International Airport

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu Airport
We meet at Tribhuvan International Airport, take 25 minutes driving to the hotel. Check-in hotel and guide will brief the program. Stay overnight at the hotel with breakfast in Kathmandu.

Day 02: Full day sight seeing in Kathmandu valley
Professional Tour Guide comes at 9 AM with a car to the hotel door. Today we visit four UNESCO world heritage sites include Swayambhunath (1st century), Kathmandu Durbar Square (7th to 18th century), Pashupatinath (5th century), and Boudhanath (5th century).

Day 03: Kathmandu (1350 m) to Baglung (800 m) - 10 hours by bus
Pokhara has a 204 km (127miles) distance to the west. Pokhara to Baglung is 72 km. The bus takes a minimum of 10 hours to approach. During the journey, the views are interesting, snow-capped mountains, Trisuli River Valley, Marsyangdi River valley, Modi Khola Valley, Kali Gandaki River Valley, terraced fields, village, hill, domestic animal and plant. Stay overnight at a camp in Baglung.

Day 04: Baglung to Babiachaur (980 m) - 6/7 hours
We take a higher route. Baglung to Pharse (825 m) takes 1-hour. The Pharse to Beni (820 m) reaches in 1:30 hours. Beni to Tatopani takes 1:45 hours. Here are hot springs for men up to 4 pm and for women after 4 pm. Tatopani to Babiachaur requires 1:25 hours of hiking. Stay overnight at a camp in Babiachaur.

Day 05: Babiachaur to Phalegaun (1890 m) - 6/7 hours
Babiachaur to Darbang (1070 m) takes 2:20 hours. Darbang to Takum (1670 m) takes 2:30 hours. Takum to Phalegaun takes 1:30 hours. Stay overnight at a camp in Phalegaun.

Day 06: Phalegaun to Chorten Hill (3410 m) - 6/7 hours
Phalegaun to Narja Khola (2150 m) offers1:35 hours of hiking. Narja Khola to Moreni Hill (2590 m) reaches in 1:35 hours. Moreni Hill to Jaljala (3450 m) has 2:40 hours hike. Stay overnight at a camp in Chorten Hill.

Day 07: Jaljala to Dhorpatan (2840 m) - 5/6 hours
Jaljala to Goth takes 45 minutes. Goth to Gurjakot (3015 m) takes 1:50 hours. Gurjakot to Chentung (2940 m) takes 1:30 hours. Chentung to Dhorpatan office takes 1:05 hours. Stay overnight at a camp in Dhorpatan.

Day 08: Dhorpatan to Thankur (3290 m) - 6/7 hours
Dhorpatan to the notch (3080 m) takes 1 hour. Notch to Main River takes 1:30 hours. Thulo Veri River to the pass (4050 m) takes 1:15 hours. The mountain pass to Thankur takes 2 hours. Stay overnight at a camp in Thankur.

Day 09: Thankur to Yamakhar (2490 m) - 6/7 hours
Thankur to Ghustung River takes 1:10 hours. Ghustung River to Kami Danda (3130 m) takes 1:45 hours. Kami Danda to Pelma (2525 m) takes 1:30 hours. Pelma to Yamakhar takes 45 minutes. Stay overnight at a camp in Yamakhar.

Day 10: Yamakhar to Sheng Khola Valley (3700 m) - 6/7 hours
Yamakhar to Askyur (2940 m) takes 1 hour. The Askyur to Dhule (3325 m) takes 2 hours. Dhule to pass (3930 m) takes 2 hours. Pass to Sheng Khola Valley takes 45 minutes. Stay overnight at a camp in the Sheng Khola Valley.

Day 11: Sheng Khola Valley to Jangla (4520 m) - 6/7 hours
Sheng Khola Valley to Phuphal pond (4310 m) offers 2 hours hike. Phuphal pond to Sadle (4490 m) takes 45 minutes. Sadle to Purbang (4005 m) takes 1:25 hours. Purbang to Jangla takes 2 hours. Stay overnight at a camp in Jangla.

Day 12: Jangla to Rishi Khola (2200 m) - 5/6 hours
Jangla to notch (4050 m) takes an hour hike. The Notch to Samtiling (3025 m) takes 1:30 hours. There are Magar people with a Gompa. Samtiling to the Police check post (2770 m) reaches 50 minutes. Police check post to Rishi Khola takes 1:30 hours hike. Stay overnight at a camp in Rishi Khola.

Day 13: Rishi Khola to Roha (2940 m) - 6/7 hours
Rishi Khola to Thulo Bheri bridge (2170 m) reaches in 1:15 hours hike. Thulo Bheri bridge to Dunai (2100 m) takes 30 minutes walks. The district headquarters of Dolpa Dunai goes to a stream (2500 m) in 1:30 hours. The stream to Roha requires 1:45 hours hike. Stay overnight at a camp in Roha.

Day 14: Roha to Suli Gad Bridge (2980 m) - 6/7 hours
Roha to Chepka (2615 m) takes 1:15 hours. Hike from Chepka to Stream (2850 m) in 1:30 hours. Stream to the valley (3205 m) reaches in 2 hours. The valley to Suli Gad bridge offers an hour hike. Stay overnight at a camp in Suli Gad Bridge.

Day 15: Suli Gad Bridge to Sumduwa (3120 m) - 6/7 hours
Suli Gad Bridge to the field (3025 m) takes 45 minutes hike. The next Rigi (3285 m) hike in 1:30 hours. The next river draining lake (3625 m) offers 1:45 hours walk. The next Palam (3040 m) reaches in 1:10 hours walk. Palam for Sumduwa park headquarters takes 1 hour. Stay overnight at a camp in Sumduwa.

Day 16: Sumduwa to Phedi (4245 m) - 5/6 hours
Sumduwa to Pungmo (3300 m) takes 1:15 hours. The Pungmo to flat area takes 1:15 hours. Flat area to Phedi takes 2:15 hours. Stay overnight at a camp in Phedi.

Day 17: Phedi to next side Phedi (3990 m) - 5/6 hours
Phedi to Kaagmara La (5110 m) takes 3 hours. Kaagmara La to next side Phedi takes 2:30 hours. Stay overnight at a camp next side of the Phedi.

Day 18: Phedi to Hurikot (2585 m) - 5/6 hours
Phedi to Bridge (3700 m) takes an hour. Bridge to Jagdula Khola takes 1:45 hours. There is an army camp. Jagdula Khola to Hurikot takes 2 hours. Stay overnight at a camp in Hurikot.

Day 19: Hurikot to Maauri Lagna (3910 m) - 6/7 hours
Hurikot to Kaigaon (2660 m) takes 45 hours. Kaigaon to Majgaon (2910 m) takes an hour. Majgaun to Chaumrikot (3100 m) takes 2 hours. Chaumrikot to Maauri Lagna takes 3 hours. Stay overnight at a camp in Maauri Lagna.

Day 20: Maauri Lagna to Pass (2960 m) - 6/7 hours
The Maauri Lagna to Ghar Khola (3510 m) takes 30 minutes. Ghar Khola to Chhurta (3100 m) takes 1:30 hours. Here is Gompa. Chhurta to log Bridge (2810 m) takes 1:30 hours. Log Bridge to Large Bridge (2740 m) takes 1 hour. Large Bridge to Pass takes 1:15 hours. Stay overnight at a camp in Pass.

Day 21: Pass to Jumla (2370 m) - 4/5 hours
Pass to Garjlankot (2615 m) takes 1:10 hours. Garjlankot to Dipalgaon (2385 m) takes 1:15 hours. Dipalgaon to Jumla takes 1 hour. Here is the airport. Stay overnight at a camp in Jumla.

Day 22: Jumla to Nepalgunj - 35 minutes by flight
Take an early morning breakfast. We fly 35 minutes to Nepalgunj with views of the village, forest and mountain. Stay overnight at lodge in Nepalgunj.

Day 23: Nepalgunj to Kathmandu - 50 minutes flight
Take a hot breakfast. Drive to the airport, fly to Kathmandu in 50 minutes with views of the village, forest, mountain and city. Stay overnight at the hotel with breakfast in Kathmandu.

Day 24: Departure to Tribhuvan International Airport
Get airport 3 hours before your flight departure. We wish you a safe and happy flight.
